Description	:	Margaret Riphagen, 97, of Hull passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, a Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 2 to 4 p.m., at Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. Margaret was born Dec. 1, 1908, in Hull, the daughter of John and Minnie (De Roos) Hoksbergen. She was raised in Hull, where she attended a country school and graduated from high school. She then took a summer of teacher's training. She taught in a country school, where she was responsible for all eight grades. She had as many as 36 students at a time and was also the school's janitor. On Nov. 26, 1931, she married William Riphagen in Hull. They farmed west of Perkins, where she was a homemaker. In 1974, they built a house in Hull and retired there. "Bill" passed away May 30, 1988, in the Rock Valley, Iowa hospital. In 1996, she became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City, Iowa. In 1999, she returned to Hull, where she became a resident of Pleasant Acres. She was a lifetime member of First Reformed Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and officer of various women's organizations. She also belonged to the Farm Bureau Homemakers. She enjoyed doing crafts, listening to the radio, reading, playing cards and games, playing the piano and traveling. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Schreur; a grandson, Rodney Mulder; three brothers, Henry, the Rev. John and William Hoksbergen; and three sisters, Jeanette Koele, Pearl Kuiper and Henrietta in infancy.
