Mrs. Margaret Newby, whose maiden name was Hutchinson, was born in Lowell, Henry county, Iowa, March 18, 1851, and died June 22, 1906, aged 55 years, three months and four days. Mrs. Margaret Newby, whose maiden name was Hutchinson, was born in Lowell, Henry county, Iowa, March 18, 1851, and died June 22, 1906, aged 55 years, three months and four days. At the age of seventeen she became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She was united in marriage to T.C. Newby, November 30, 1869. In 1896 Mr. and Mrs. Newby with their family moved to Lamar, Barton county, Missouri, in which place they made their home till 1902 when they moved to Rosalia, Butler county, where they have since made their home and where Mrs. Newby passed away. She was a mother of eleven children, eight of whom are still living: Mrs. J.C. Haver, of Oklahoma; George, of Liberal, Missouri; Abner, Tot, Harry, Frank, Rex and Dewey, of Rosalia; all of whom with their father were with her during her last illness and death. She bore the intense suffering of her long illness with great patience. The funeral services were held from the home Saturday morning, June 23, the pastor E.S. Corrie officiating. One sad and yet exceptionally beautiful feature of the service was that her own sons acted as pall bearers. She was laid to rest in the beautiful little cemetery at the Walnut Valley Chapel.
