Description	:	Margaret Jean Padget, 87, of Ottumwa died March 19, 2012 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Jean was born January 31, 1925 in Ottumwa to George and Loretta Hannon McDonough. She married Charles F. "Chuck" Padget on November 23, 1940. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1997. She was a model farm wife of the era. A move to the Davis County farmstead in 1949 left her without electricity and running water. She took it all in stride. She always had a big garden and there was always enough food for anyone who might arrive at the last... Read More	Margaret Jean Padget, 87, of Ottumwa died March 19, 2012 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Jean was born January 31, 1925 in Ottumwa to George and Loretta Hannon McDonough. She married Charles F. "Chuck" Padget on November 23, 1940. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1997. She was a model farm wife of the era. A move to the Davis County farmstead in 1949 left her without electricity and running water. She took it all in stride. She always had a big garden and there was always enough food for anyone who might arrive at the last minute. They lived on a farm in Davis County until 1991, when they moved to Ottumwa. Although they had many friends, their lives revolved around family. They played roles in caring for their parents in their later years to always being available to take care of their grandchildren. All the grandkids looked forward to the times they spent with Grandma and Grandpa. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She is survived by three children, Bill(Beth)Padget of Appleton, WI, Sharon Ancell of Ottumwa, Janet(Chuck)Jackman of Des Moines; 8 grandchildren, Angela Edmonson of Clive, Laura Briggs of Pella, Shelley Bear of Albia, Jo Smith of Anchorage, AK, Stacey Thomas of Urbandale, Kelley Schneider of Des Moines, David Padget of Houston, TX, Eric Padget of Oak Creek, WI; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Rosetta Davidson and her brother, Woodrow McDonough. Funeral services will be 1 pm Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Father Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 am Wednesday. The rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by family visitation until 8 pm. Memorials may be made in memory of Charles Padget to Hospice serving Wapello and Davis Counties. Ottumwa, IA.
