BALLANTYNE-- Margaret Jones Ballantyne, 76, Omaha, Neb., formerly of Moorhead, Iowa died Sunday, August 28, 1988, at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Neb.. She was born September 22, 1911, at Soldier, Iowa, to Earl and Clara (LaSeur) Jones. She graduated from Soldier High School in 1928 and from University of Nebraska in June 1933. On June 25, 1935, she married John T. Ballantyne at Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple farmed near Moorhead until moving into Moorhead in 1946. She was a Junior High School teach for 20 years from 1956 to 1976 when she retired. Mr. Ballantyne died August 29, 1968, in Sioux City. She had lived in Omaha, Neb., for the last five years. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Moorhead and then Pisgah, a member and Past Patron of Moorhead Chapter #528, Order of Eastern Star; and sang for many weddings and funerals in the area. Survivors include on daughter, Sara Jane Hammer of Omaha, one son, Johnny E. Ballantyne of Omaha, four grandsons, Bryan, Barry and Robin Ballantyne and Scott E. Hammer, and on e great grandson, Travis. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, and one brother, Russell Jones. Services were held August 31, 1988, in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pisgah, with Evangelist John Lizer officiating. Mrs. Forbes Glennie, Jr., the organist, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Charles Holben, in the selections "There Will Be No Tears In Paradise" and "The Lord Knows Why". Bearers were Bryan Ballantyne, Steve Miller, Scott Hammer, Tom Mathaidess, Stanley Hanse, and Daivd Winegar. Interment was in Spring Valley Cemetery at Moorhead, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.
