Description	:	Obituary, Mrs. Margaret Clark The subject of the present sketch, whose death was announced last week, was born in the county of Sligo, Ireland, in the year 1806. She emigrated to this country with her first husband, James Golden, in the year 1838, and settled in the Township of Albion, in the county of Peel, which was at that time but sparsely settled and in many places a wilderness. Read More	Obituary, Mrs. Margaret Clark The subject of the present sketch, whose death was announced last week, was born in the county of Sligo, Ireland, in the year 1806. She emigrated to this country with her first husband, James Golden, in the year 1838, and settled in the Township of Albion, in the county of Peel, which was at that time but sparsely settled and in many places a wilderness. About six months after arriving here Mr. Golden died, leaving a family of five children - all girls. The sad loss of her husband was made still harder to bear owing to the sore need of manly arms to develop the newly-settled homestead. However, during the lapse of time, the deceased was united in marriage to Mr. Stephen Clark, and shortly afterwards they moved into Mono and located about three miles from Orangeville, which at that time contained but two or three houses, the land round about being covered with forest. Here they lived and toiled, the result being that ere long they had possessed themselves of a comfortable homestead. Stephen Clark died in the year 1862, leaving a family of two girls and one boy. The deceased continued on the homestead for some years and finally sold it, and from that time until the day of her death - some eight years - she had always lived among her children. Of late she had been residing with her daughter, Mrs. A[dam] Ferguson, of this place, and had gone on a visit to her son, Mr. John Clark, of Melancthon, where she was taken ill and died on Saturday, the 6th inst., at the advanced age of 77 years. Besides her own family, the deceased has fifty-one living grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She had been a Methodist for fifty years, and died very peacefully and contentedly in full hope of a blessed resurrection. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, the 7th inst., and was very largely attended, the remains being interred in the Shelburne cemetery.
