She was born on December 21,1914, in Geneva, Iowa, to Louie and Louise (Sailer) Kreimeyer. Margaret graduated from Geneva High School and then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught country school in the Geneva area before her marriage to Reuben C. Read More	Obituary Margaret Louise Burmester December 21, 1914 - September 15, 2010 Margaret Louise (Kreimeyer) Burmester, 95, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away September 15, 2010, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa. She was born on December 21,1914, in Geneva, Iowa, to Louie and Louise (Sailer) Kreimeyer. Margaret graduated from Geneva High School and then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught country school in the Geneva area before her marriage to Reuben C. Burmester on October 9, 1935 at St. Peter's Church in rural Geneva. Margaret was a homemaker and loved gardening, canning fruit and vegetables, and baking. She entered flowers and canned goods in the Franklin County Fair (earning many high placings), and also worked where needed in the Floral Hall. Margaret also sang in the Franklin County Women's Chorus. She was a very active Farm Bureau member and she held several offices over the years. She was an active member of several Hampton organizations, including the Garden Club, History and Heritage Club, Franklin County Historical Society, Genealogical Society, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the Women's Fellowship at the First Congregational UCC church, where she also taught children's Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and participated in various mission projects, including rug and lap robe projects. She also held a variety of offices in these organizations. Margaret and Reuben were in charge of the 4-H food stand at the county fair for several years and were Rural Youth advisors for many years. Both of them enjoyed square dancing and performed with a group at the local, North Iowa and Iowa State fairs. They were both very active in helping set up the Historical Building at the Franklin County Fair Grounds and the Food Pantry in Hampton. In later years Margaret enjoyed going to the Senior Center for lunch and playing 500 and Bingo. Margaret and Reuben were always very friendly and welcomed into their home several foreign exchange students and their daughters' college friends. Margaret is survived by her daughter Diana Holden of Prescott Valley, Arizona, daughter Jeanne (Gilbert) Butler of Los Alamos, New Mexico, son David (Vicky) Burmester of Hampton, grandchildren Lisa (John) Holden-Byrnes of Anthem, Arizona, Kevin (Joanna) Holden of North Hollywood, California, MarJean Holden of North Hollywood, California, Chad Burmester of Coralville, Iowa, Ryan Burmester of Scottsdale, Arizona, Tamryn Butler-Jones of White Rock, New Mexico, Randal Butler of Westminster, Colorado, great grandchildren Donovan and Dawson Byrnes of Anthem, Arizona, Jasmine Guerra of Longmont, Colorado, Jayson and Logan Jones of White Rock, New Mexico, sister-in-law Roxa Kreimeyer of Quincy, Washington and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Reuben, sister Della Burkle, brothers John and Victor Kreimeyer, and son-in-law Oscar Holden. In lieu flowers, donations and memorials may be made in Margaret's name to First Congregational UCC organ or stained glass window memorial, Hampton Senior Center, Franklin County Historical Society, Heifer project, Southern Poverty Law Center, or your favorite charity or mission.
