Description	:	Margaret M. Gerken, 81, of Plankinton, SD died Thursday, July 1, 2010 from complications of Parkinson's Disease at the Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD. Funeral Mass will be at St. John's Catholic Church in Plankinton. A Committal Service will follow at Mizpah Catholic Cemetery. Margaret M. (Weis) Gerken was born August 29, 1928 to Harry and Mary (Budler) Weis, on the family farm. Gerken, 81, of Plankinton, SD died Thursday, July 1, 2010 from complications of Parkinson's Disease at the Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD. Funeral Mass will be at St. John's Catholic Church in Plankinton. A Committal Service will follow at Mizpah Catholic Cemetery. Margaret M. (Weis) Gerken was born August 29, 1928 to Harry and Mary (Budler) Weis, on the family farm. Attending County school and graduating from Stickney High School in 1946, she went on to teach school for two years. In August of 1948, she married Robert Stadler. They were together until Robert was killed in an accident in 1958. In 1963, she was married to Chauncey Gerken. Margaret worked at Mitchell and Armour Produce for ten years. After nearly twenty-five years of working at the South Dakota State Training school, she retired in 1990. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Senior Citizens. She was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church and taught CCD for many years. Survivors include: her two sons: Dennis Stadler and wife Jenny of Scio, OR and Dale Stadler and wife Lisa of Harrisburg, OR; two sisters: Marlene Wolf of Alexandria, SD and Jolene Hoff of Bakersfield, CA; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by: both her husbands; her parents and a brother.
