Read More	Henderson Gold Leaf, Thurs, 01 Apr 1909, pg 5: Death of an Aged Lady Mrs. Margaret Amos, who was perhaps the oldest person in Henderson, died at the home of her son, Mr. James Amos, yesterday afternoon. She had been in feeble health a long time but up to a short while ago she showed remarkable vitality and activity for one of her age considering all the circumstances. Several years ago Mrs. Amos fell and broke her hip and it was thought then that she could not recover. But she was able to get about again and her energy and industry asserted itself as before. A few weeks ago she had another fall and bruised her leg severely. Blood poison developed and for ten days or more her death has been expected at any time. Mrs. Amos was a good woman and was greatly loved by all who knew her. Although far beyond the age of man’s allotted span of life her mind was clear, her heart was young, her nature gentle, her disposition sweet. She loved young people an delighted in their society. "Mother Amos," as she was affectionately called, was a favorite with old and young who knew her and while we cannot grieve as for one whose day was not spent, and who was not a hopeless sufferer and patient waiter for the summons to quit this earthy existence and enter upon the larger life with her Lord and Master whom she had loved and served so long and loyally, she will be missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Amos was in her ninetieth year. She would have been ninety and her next birthday in September. She was the mother of Mr. James Amos, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, and of Mrs. John McMillan, of this county. The funeral will be held from the Presbyterian church at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon. =================
