Margaret was born in Clarion, Iowa, on December 21, 1928, the daughter of Glenn and Bessie (Lamphere) Seavert. On October 10, 1944, Margaret married Duane Briley in Jefferson, Iowa. The couple enjoyed wintering in Donna, Texas, camping, and taking evening drives, especially to the Ledges State Park to watch the wildlife. Margaret was a member of Central Christian Church of Boone and enjoyed Word Search puzzles, Bingo, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In earlier years, Margaret enjoyed playing piano. Margaret worked for the dental office of Dr. David Grant, first as an assistant and later as a receptionist. Margaret loved volunteer work, especially for the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad, the Red Rock Community Action Center, and RSVP. After the death of her husband, Margaret enjoyed taking bus trips with her daughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant son, Michael. Margaret is survived by a son Larry Briley and wife Krista of Boone; two daughters, Cheryl Temple and husband David of Ames, and Linda Van Pelt and husband Gary of Boone; seven grandchildren: Michael Van Pelt and wife Jill of Inman, South Carolina, Mark Van Pelt and wife Pam of Boone, Matthew Van Pelt and wife Amber of Boone, Scott Smith and Bobbi Jo Burkhart of Madrid, Nathan Smith and wife Andrea of Pella, Jalyn Briley of Boone, and Jesse Briley and wife Jasmine of Nevada; and seven great grandchildren, Zachary, Abbie, Trevor, Hannah, and Wesley Van Pelt, and Malorie, and Ian Smith. Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel on Wednesday from 2 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. until service time. In memory of Margaret, memorials may be directed to the family to be distributed to charities at a later date.
