Description	:	Margaret 'Maggie' Heilmann was born on Feb 19,1850 in Lampertheim, Starkenburg, Hesse-Darmstadt. Her father Jacob Heilmann b1819 was 30 and her mother Catharina Stephan Heilmann was only 24. Her parents were married in the German Lutheran Church in Lampertheim shown to the right in 1849 and where she was baptized. Maggie was the eldest of 5 children having 3 brothers and a sister Elizabeth, who all lived in Ohio. Maggie was the eldest of 5 children having 3 brothers and a sister Elizabeth, who all lived in Ohio. Contrary to what is stated in her 0bituary she came to America with her parents in 1852 at 2 years of age and was found on the 1860 Census living in Chillicothe, Ohio with her parents. She married Leonard 'Leandret' Ripper on March 8, 1869 in Corydon, Iowa. As it turns out They had 14 children in the 25 years from 1869 to 1893.(5 died either in infancy or as young children - listed below) How sad She must have been at times as she lived out her life in Wayne Co, Iowa. She passed away on October 24, 1921 in Wayne, Iowa at the age of 71. Her Daughter Mary married a Conner and their farm was auctioned 0ff in 1958 after his death. The Last photo shows the castle Starkenburg in Germany from which the area where the Stephan Family lived takes its name. I have requested that her Dau - Mary b1887 be linked up Prior Entry: Wayne County Democrat Nov. 10, 1921 Obituary Margaret Heilman Ripper was born Feb. 19th, 1850 in Hessen Darmstat, Germany. In 1866 at the age of 16 years she came to America with her uncle, he settling in Illinois. In 1869 she came to Wayne County and on March 8th, 1869, she was married to Leonard Ripper at Corydon, Iowa. At that time they moved onto their farm northeast of Harvard and lived there until 1914, when they moved into the present home. She was converted into the German Lutheran Church at the age of 14 years and has remained a faithful member ever since. The last few years her Christ has been a great blessing to her and although a constant sufferer she has always found comfort in reading her Bible and at the last expressed herself as ready to meet her Savior. She was the mother of eleven children, five of whom are dead. Those living and present are Mrs. John Klinger, Adam Ripper, Anna Ripper of Harvard, Mrs. Lee Conner of Promise City; Fred L. Ripper of Harvard and Charles S. of Allerton. She leaves her husband and six children, thirteen grand children, five great grand children, one brother, Philip Heilman of Harvard, two sisters, Mrs. Dr. B. S. Schaffer of Tacoma, Nev., and Mrs. Phillip Schaffer of Harvard and a great host of other relatives and friends. She passed away at her home early Monday morning, Oct. 24th, 1921, her age being 71 years, 8 months and 5 days. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.F. Bingaman of Seymour at the church at Harvard on Tuesday, Oct. 25th at 2 P.M. Interment at Harvard (Shriver) Cemetery.
