Read More	Aged Residence Dies The remains of the late Mrs Margaret Herrington Chapman who had the distinction of being the first white child born in Geneva and died at the home of her daughter Mrs B A Little of Batavia Avenue, Geneva, will be taken to Dunlap, Iowa Thursday evening after private funeral services are held from the Little home at 2 o'clock. Mrs Margaret Chapman was born November 3, 1836, in what is known now as Geneva township. She came to this country with her father and mother, who were the first white settlers here. She resided here until her marriage to the late C L Chapman, after which they went to Oskosh, Wisconsin; later they moved to Dunlaop, Iowa where her husband died and Mrs Chapman returned to her birthplace. She is the last of her family. Six children survive. They are Mrs David Stubbs of Des Moines, Iowa; Edward Herrington Chapman of Ottawa; Mrs Margaret Chapman Little, of Geneva; Charles N Chapman of Dunlap, Iowa; Augustus Chapman of Salem, Oregon, Ralph Richard Chapman of New Orleans. Heart trouble and hardening of the arteries were the causes of her death. She has been able to take part in most of the social functions of the season and failed rapidly the last few days before her passing. She was a member of the Episcopal church from early girlhood and was one of the most earnest workers the church had. Her attention was not only in the church but for the welfare of the surrounding community. When she was a little girl, the Indian's used to come to her mother's home to do trading and Mrs Chapman experienced many encounters with the red men in the earl;y days.
