Description	:	Margaret M. Kokes, 65, of Crook, died July 31, 2004, at Memorial Health Center in Sidney, Neb., after a four-year battle with cancer. Visitation is Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Gerhig Funeral Home in Sidney. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Aug. 5, at the Evangelical Free Church in Sidney, with Pastor Dave Tyree of Crook United Church of Christ officiating. She attended school in Stoneham and graduated from Stoneham High School in 1956. She met Melvin Kokes in the summer of 1957 and they were married on Sept. 14, 1957, in Sterling. They resided north of Crook, where they farmed and ranched for 47 years. Mrs. Kokes was a member of the Panhandle Czechs of Nebraska, Crook Clubetts, and a lifetime member of the Crook Historical Society She is survived by husband Melvin Kokes; sons Bruce Kokes, Kent Kokes, all of Crook, Mark Kokes, Fort Morgan, and Marvin Kokes, Highlands Ranch; daughters Teresa Stieb, Iliff, and Susan Sigmon, Yuma; sisters, Ruth Meis, Yuma, Patty Reister, Odessa, Wash., and Shirley Finkbeiner, Loveland; and 19 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Mary Northrup and Betty Sitton; and two infant brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Dorwart Cancer Center or the charity of the donor's choice.
