Description	:	The community was shocked when the news came last Wednesday that Miss Margaret Cooney has passed away about 1 p.m., July 23, 1930. Margaret was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cooney, living half way between here and Holton on Highway No. 75. she was about 20 years of age at the time of her death, a graduate of Holton High School in 1929. She had been employed to teach the Miller school on the reservation the coming year. She was well and favorably known in Mayetta and held in high esteem in this community. She will be... Margaret was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cooney, living half way between here and Holton on Highway No. 75. she was about 20 years of age at the time of her death, a graduate of Holton High School in 1929. It is a sad thing for a young person in the prime of life when they had so many opportunities to be taken away. The funeral services were held in Holton Friday morning at 9 o’clock, July 25, 1930 The Holton Recorder ~ July 31, 1930 The death of Miss Margaret Cooney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cooney, occurred yesterday afternoon shortly after one o'clock at the home of her parents south of Holton. Two weeks ago Tuesday her tonsils were removed at a Topeka hospital and she was brought home the next day. Apparently her condition was satisfactory winter a week ago Saturday when she became seriously ill. Since that time she has grown steadily worse. Margaret was a member of the Holton High School graduating class of 1928. She planned to teach next year at the Miller school. Funeral arrangements had not been completed late yesterday afternoon.
