She married Kenneth Johnson on May 19, 1935 in Moulton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1964. Margaret graduated from Northeast Missouri State University in 1970. She was a school teacher for many years, teaching in rural Appanoose and Davis Counties and first grade at Davis County Community Schools in Bloomfield. Read More	Margaret Johnson, 101, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on December 2, 2016 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born June 9, 1915 in Cincinnati, Iowa to Samuel and Mary Moore Barkley. She married Kenneth Johnson on May 19, 1935 in Moulton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1964. Margaret graduated from Northeast Missouri State University in 1970. She was a school teacher for many years, teaching in rural Appanoose and Davis Counties and first grade at Davis County Community Schools in Bloomfield. Margaret enjoyed spending time writing poetry and children’s stories. She was a member of the Monterey Christian Church, Chapter “F” P.E.O. in Moulton, and the Welcome Neighbors Club. Margaret was a past president for the Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma – Beta Rho Chapter of Bloomfield. She is survived by a daughter, Diane (Dennis) Wright of Ames, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Richard Gale Johnson and David Paul Johnson; a daughter, Carolyn May Lawson; a son-in-law, Dwight Lawson; a granddaughter, Janette Johnson; a brother, George Barkley; and two sisters, Eileen Swarts and Lenore Carr. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Jack Knox officiating. Burial will be at the Johnson Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Bloomfield Care Center Activity Fund and Good Samaritan Hospice.
