Read More	Margaret Holbach, 102, Minot, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Crosby Good Samaritan Center. Margaret McNamara was born on November 21, 1909, on the family farm in Wayzetta Township of Mountrail County, the oldest child of John and Sadie (Pettingill) McNamara. Margaret was raised on the family farm and attended the McNamara county school. While living in Minot with her grandma Pettingill, Margaret attended and graduated from Minot High School in 1927 and received a teaching certificate from Minot Normal School. Margaret then taught at the McNamara country school and other rural schools including at Ross, North Dakota. Margaret was united in marriage to John Holbach on June 21, 1933, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Van Hook, North Dakota. They made their home on a farm located southwest of Minot. Together they raised dairy cows and farmed small grains. In 1960 they built the Casa Motel in what was then rural Minot. They owned and managed the motel until 1968. They then purchased and moved one of the original homes from downtown Minot to their farmland southwest of the city. They resided there until John's death in 2009. Margaret then lived at Somerset Court until late 2011 when she moved to the Mohall Good Samaritan Center and then to the Crosby Good Samaritan Center where she lived until her death. Margaret was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church where she was a charter member. She served as the first president of the Altar Society and was a member of the building committee when the church was built. She was a consulting member of the committee when Our Lady of Grace was remodeled and the addition was built. Margaret also belonged to St. Anne's Group of the Altar Society. Margaret was a charter member of the Minot Prairie Quilt Guild and of the Minot African Violet Society. She was a longtime member of the Afton Homemakers Club, the Minot Garden Club and the Minot Motel Association. She served as a 4-H Leader for many years. While her children attended St. Leo's School, she belonged to the PTA, the band mothers, and served as a room mother. Margaret served as a flower judge for the North Dakota State Fair for numerous years and also judged flower shows in surrounding communities. Spring and summer would find John and Margaret working outside in their huge vegetable garden and flower gardens surrounding their home. For close to 30 years she and John belonged to the Farmers Market and were well-known for their vegetables that they sold at the Farmers Market held first at the Red Owl Grocery Store and then at Oak Park. As often as possible, she and John would go fishing competing to see who could catch the biggest and the most fish. During the winter months Margaret would spend her time taking care of her indoor plants and quilting at her quilting frame. Her children and grandchildren all received hand quilted quilts made by Grandma. Margaret enjoyed traveling. She and John made several trips to Texas and California to visit friends. They often went to visit their daughter who lived out-of-state. She went on many Homemaker bus tours and attended several national African violet conventions. She also went to Ireland twice with her daughters. Margaret and John traveled to Hudson Bay to see the polar bears. Grandma Holbach enjoyed taking her grandchildren on day trips and on overnight camping trips with a borrowed tent and sleeping bags. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, sons-in-law Thad Larson and Larry Clemens; brother and sister-in-law John and Marie McNamara; brothers, Donald McNamara, Gordon McNamara; sister and brother-in-law Agatha (Babe) and Ed McKibben; brother-in law and sisters-in-law, Frank and Ruth Holbach, and Helena and Jack Twite; sister-in-law, Bertha Holbach; brothers-in-law, Jerome Meyer, Bill Ruelle and Jim Cooper. Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot Visitation: Tuesday, June 12 from 2:00 until 7:30 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Vigil Prayer Service: Tuesday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
