She was born Feb. 11, 1910, at Gibbon, Neb., on the homestead of her grandfather P.E. Foxworthy. She was the daughter of Thomas Floyd and Cora (Foxworthy) Ice. She grew to adulthood in the Gibbon community, and following her graduation from Gibbon High School in 1928, was employed at the Glen Gibson Insurance office and as a bookkeeper for the Gibbon Cheese factory. McMullen, 94, Boise, Idaho, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Boise, Idaho. She was born Feb. 11, 1910, at Gibbon, Neb., on the homestead of her grandfather P.E. Foxworthy. She was the daughter of Thomas Floyd and Cora (Foxworthy) Ice. She grew to adulthood in the Gibbon community, and following her graduation from Gibbon High School in 1928, was employed at the Glen Gibson Insurance office and as a bookkeeper for the Gibbon Cheese factory. After the Exchange Bank reopened, she was employed there until her marriage to LaVerne Tilman McMullen in Lincoln, Neb., on Oct. 17, 1931. They lived in Gibbon and owned and operated The Gibbon Reporter from 1937 until their retirement in 1972. After the death of her husband, she lived in the Centennial Manor in Gibbon until 1997, when she moved to Boise, Idaho. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed working on genealogy. Survivors: sons, Gailen McMullen and wife Barbara of Beatrice, Neb., and Gary McMullen and wife Judith of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Robert McMullen and wife Bridget of Eagle River, Alaska, Gail Mann and husband Greg of Beatrice, Carla McMullen and fiancé, Dale Berg of Blair, Neb., Catherine McNeill and husband Steven of Kuna, Idaho, Susan McMullen of Boise, and Tammy Weichel and husband Jon of Beatrice; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law, Inis Joiner of Grants Pass, Ore., Iris Thom of Ravenna, Neb., Ruth McMullen of Auburn, Wash., and Maxine McMullen of Gibbon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Floyd and Cora (Foxworthy) Ice; her husband, LaVerne (1982); and a brother, Kenneth Ice. Graveside services and burial of the cremains will be held in the Gibbon Cemetery in Gibbon on Memorial Day weekend.
