Obituary for Margaret Neel Guthrie - "Good Woman Passes Away" - Margaret Neil of this place, the daughter of Mrs Rachel Neil of Hopewell, who has been in failing health for several months, answered the final summons at her home on Diamond Alley, Wednesday morning, December 3, 1913 aged 56 years 1 months and 7 days. In 1876 she was united in mariage to George R. Guthrie, and to this union ten children were born, two of whom with the father has preceded the subject to the grave. Eight children, an aged mother, one sister and two brothers remain to mourn their loss. She was born in Sprigg township, December 26, 1856, and had been a resident of Manchester about two years, coming here from Ellsberry. She was a good woman, a kind and loving mother and a patient sufferer during her illness. The funeral services were held at the Hickory Ridge church Thursday at 1 p.m. conducted by Rev A.J. Bowman, follwed with interment in the beautiful cemetary at their place." (from "The Signal")
