Read More	The Hooper Sentinel December 27, 1934 Pioneer Woman Enters Last Sleep The thinning ranks of pioneer women of this community was further broken into on Monday of this week when death called Mrs. Herman Monnich‚ to her eternal reward at 8 o'clock that morning at the Lutheran Good Samaritan hospital in Fremont, where she had been confined since November 9 when she fell at her home and fractured her hip. Due to her advanced aged and the enfeebled condition of her health, her recovery from the accident was considered doubtful, and although receiving the best of medical care possible she gradually declined until death released her from her sufferings. Her passing is sincerely regretted by the many friends in this community and all extend sympathy for the family in their bereavement. Mrs. Monnich had attained the age of 74 years, 5 months and 6 days on the date of her death, December 24, 1934, she having been born as Margaret Parkert at Sheboygan, Wisc., on May 18, 1860. When a child of 7 years she came to Nebraska with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Parkert in 1867, and located at Fremont. After a year's residence the family settled on a homestead two miles west of Hooper, where she lived until her marriage to Herman Monnich on December 27, 1881. Her passing thus culminated a marriage rite that would have extended 53 years had she lived until today. Following the marriage the young couple settled on the Monnich farm 2 1/2 miles northwest of Hooper that had continued to be her home tho a few years ago with their children grown to maturity they left the old home to reside in a newer and smaller one nearby. In the years that she resided in this community Mrs. Monnich became widely known and highly esteemed by everyone who knew her. She was a home loving and Christian woman and her duty to her home was always uppermost in her mind. As a neighbor and a friend she was ever helpful to those in need and her many acts of kindness will ever be remembered by the recipients. She held a membership in Grace Lutheran church and also in Friendship chapter Order of Eastern Star. Surviving her are her aged husband, and five sons and two daughters, George W., of Springview; Mrs. Norman E. Shaffer, Bernard H. and Clarence, of Hooper; Edward J., of Oakland, Calif.; John of Fremont, and Mrs. W. W. Patrick of Tucson, Ariz. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Following her demise, her remains were taken in charge of by the Wollmer & Warne mortuary to await the day of the funeral. This will be held this Thursday afternoon with a short services at the home at one o'clock and at 2 o'clock from Grace Lutheran church, the Pastor, Rev. W. H. Moeller, officiating. Interment will be made in the Hooper cemetery.
