Read More	Margaret Rosena McGarr November 15, 1916 ~ September 3, 2007 Margaret McGarr, 90, of Mapleton died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton. Margurette Rosena McGarr was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Oto Township, Woodbury, County, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Emma (Mundt) Reed. At the age of three, her mother died, so she lived with Cregor and Lottie Schoenherr, who then raised her. She graduated from Mapleton High School with the class of 1935. On Feb. 27, 1940, she married Paul McGarr in Sioux City. After their marriage, the couple lived in the Mapleton area. In 1947, they moved to their farm six and one half miles southwest of Mapleton. Paul died Jan. 13, 1980. She moved to Mapleton on Nov. 1, 1991. She continued to live there until August 14, 2007, when she became a resident at the nursing home. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where she served actively. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and was a 4-H leader for a number of years with the 5-H Wranglers. She volunteered her time at Maple Heights Nursing Home and helped at the local concession stands. She loved to cook and bake and above all, was a dedicated farm wife and mother. Survivors include three sons, Jerry McGarr of Crown Point, Ind., Philip McGarr and his wife, Ann of Oak Harbor, Wash., and C. Joe McGarr and his wife, Geri of Des Moines; two daughters, Suzy Rhoades of Crown Point, Ind., and Lela "Shorty" and her husband, Doug Shupe of Mapleton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two half sisters, Juanita and Phyllis; and several nieces and nephews.
