Memorial services for Margaret and her husband, Lyle Shaneyfelt, who died on Sept. 11, 2013, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Memorial services for Margaret and her husband, Lyle Shaneyfelt, who died on Sept. 11, 2013, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Shaneyfelt was born on Nov. 29, 1913, in Aurora to Samuel and Grace Bayne Hull. She married Lyle Shaneyfelt on June 14, 1933. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Lee and Roger Allen. Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters, Margaret Anne Poe and Sonja Sue Zaruba, both of North Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Mary Miller, and her husband, Bob; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Lyle was also survived by one brother, Glen of Norfolk; and one sister, Lois Jean Buttermore of North Platte. Mrs. Shaneyfelt graduated from Aurora High School. She and Lyle celebrated 80 years of marriage on June 14, 2013. They had four children, Richard Lee, Margaret Anne, Sonja Sue and Roger Allen. Richard Lee and Roger Allen preceded them in death. Both Margaret Anne Poe and Sonja Sue Zaruba survive them and live in North Carolina. Lyle was born on Sept. 23, 1910, in Sherman County to John and Elizabeth Coulter Shaneyfelt. Peggy and Lyle spent most of their lives owning and running the Shaneyfelt produce. They were both active in Scouts, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served on various committees at the Methodist Church. Lyle was also very active in the Lions Club, served as mayor of Aurora and was on the Memorial Foundation board of directors.
