MARION - Mrs. Margaret Shelley Owens, 84, widow of William Henry "W. H." Owens, Jr., died Friday, October 14, 2016 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an illness. Mrs. Owens was born November 8, 1931 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Liston and Beula Baxley Shelley. She had worked with Southern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator and she retired from Marion Memorial Hospital as a nurse. Mrs. Owens was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Lillian Hilliard Sunday School Class. Surviving Mrs. Owens are a daughter, Cheryl Owens Price of Mullins; a son, William Henry "Billy" Owens, III of Mullins; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Owens of Mullins; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. Owens was predeceased by a son, Russell Owens. Funeral services will be Monday morning, October 17, at 11:00 a.m. in Reedy Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Darrell Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Reedy Creek Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
