Visitation is scheduled for 4-6:00 PM, Sunday, March 2, 2014 with a rosary/vigil service beginning at 6:00 PM, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Margaret was born March 10, 1913, at Raleigh, North Dakota, to Michael and Helena (Riehl) Volk, the youngest of nine children. She married Vitalis Dirk on November 3, 1932. After their marriage they lived with her father-in-law, Magnus Dirk where she worked as a farmwife. In the early 1940's they moved to Bismarck and in 1948 they moved into the house they built where Margaret resided there until October 2013. She worked at Q & R Clinic from 1959 to 1975. Margaret was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary since 1958. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, crocheting, going to the casino, dancing, and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Marie Schneider, Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Dorothy Thompson, Bismarck; three sons, Mike Dirk, Tacoma, Washington, Dave Dirk, and Gary and Bonnie Dirk, all of Bismarck; and 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 56 years, Vitalis, and two sons, Tim and Edwin; three brothers, Lazarus, Arsenius, Gabriel; five sisters, Natalia Miller, Scholastica Dirk, Braxada Leintz, Salamea Blotsky, Anna Mary Mathern; one grandchild, Joseph Schneider. 49814523-sent links to parents
