Description	:	DEATH'S DOINGS. DIED. - At her home in Keosauqua, Iowa, Friday, January 25, 1889, Mrs. Margarette D. Kinersly, aged 76 years, 1 month and 13 days. The deceased was born in Boston, Massachusetts, December 12, 1812. Her father was Capt. John Kendall, of the Second United States light infantry. She was married to Stephen Pratt of that city, who died in 1839. She came to Keosauqua in 1843 and soon afterwards married J.J. Kinersly of same place. Her father was Capt. John Kendall, of the Second United States light infantry. She was married to Stephen Pratt of that city, who died in 1839. She came to Keosauqua in 1843 and soon afterwards married J.J. Kinersly of same place. She leaves six children living, viz: Kendall Pratt of Boston, Mass., H.K. Pratt of Keokuk, Iowa, Edwin R. and Orion Kinersly of The Dalles, Oregon, Mrs. Augusta L. Barker and Miss Lute Kinersly of Keosauqua. For some time Mrs. Kinersly's health had been poor, but almost every day she was up and about the house, and the morning of her death secured stronger and more cheerful than usual. At the time, she was sitting in a large easy chair, a gift last Christmas from her son II K. Pratt, of Keokuk, and had some needle work on her lap, when her daughter, sitting near, noticed her head suddenly drop on her breast, and before she could reach her she fell forward on her face and was dead, leaving the world one short moment, apparently without pain with what the physicians pronounce paralysis of the heart. Her life here in Keosauqua was such as to draw the respect of all who became acquainted with her. She loved her home, her family and her neighbors, and was loved by all in return. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Walker, at the house, Sunday, Jan. 27, attended by our people, and her son H.K. Pratt of Keokuk and Mrs. Barker and Miss Kinerlsy, the other children being on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, too far away to reach here in time for the funeral. Her body was laid to away in the upper Keosauqua cemetery by the side of her husband, J.J. Kinersly, who died Nov. 26, 1886. Source: Van Buren Co.
