Margery Naomi Arnesen, the daughter of Russell and Pearl (Thorson) Maxwell was born at home on September 6, 1921 in Grant County, South Dakota. She grew up in the Ortley-Florence Area. Margery attended grade school at Blooming Valley School in Grant County and graduated from Florence High School in 1940. She attended Watertown Business School and worked at Creaser's Elevator in Watertown. On September 12, 1943 she married Lawrence Arnesen in the Helgen Church at Rural Florence, SD. The couple farmed and raised their family together North of Florence. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the Helgen Church and later Margery and Lawrence were members at Goodhue, Egeland and New Helgen Lutheran Church. Lawrence passed away on March 15, 1992 and Margery moved to Florence in 1995 where she lived until moving to Watertown in 2007. She was a member of New Helgen Lutheran Church, Happy Homemakers Extension Club and Egeland Ladies Aid. She enjoyed cooking, baking bread, reading, doing needlework and quilting, old time Christian Hymns, teaching Sunday School and Bible School and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Chad Peterson; an infant daughter, Eileen; and one brother, Dolan Maxwell. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Steven) Peterson of Florence, Lorraine (Randy) Shuller of Watertown; three sons, Raymond (Marilyn) Arnesen of Florence, Daniel (Sandra) Arnesen of Aberdeen, and Steve (Sue) Arnesen of Florence; one sister, Orlyn Aslesen of Montevideo, MN; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ lest1001 provided links to parents and spouse. 6-3-2016
