She was the daughter of Horace F. and Elva Bell Stephenson Mann. She married Manley B. Grimes on May 29, 1944 in Cairo, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1999. She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bel Air Baptist Church of Keokuk, the American Legion Auxiliary of Keokuk, and the Malta Shrine of White Shrine of Jerusalem. She enjoyed playing card with friends, crocheting, gardening and her dog. Survivors two children, David Grimes and his wife, Miriam, of Donnellson, Iowa and Patricia Grimes Gabel and her husband, Chris, of Dexter, Michigan; One sister, Evelyn Nye and her husband, Robert, of Keokuk, Iowa; A sister-in-law, Edith Pata, of Gloucester, Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Jennifer Wright and her husband, Steve, of Willmar, Minnesota and Kristin Grimes of Donnellson, Iowa; One great-grandson, Elijah Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six brothers, Chester, Horace, Howard, Robert, Gilbert, and Oscar Mann; one granddaughter, Erica Grimes; and one sister, Elva Schrick. Services were Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk with Reverend Mike McMillen officiating. Burial was in Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Bel Air Baptist Church of Keokuk.
