She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Lee Helms and Willie Craig Helms. She grew up in Mineral Springs, NC with her siblings. Read More	Margie Helms Hayes, age 89, of Monroe, went from life to life eternal on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Margie was born on February 6, 1929 in Mineral Springs, NC. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Lee Helms and Willie Craig Helms. She grew up in Mineral Springs, NC with her siblings. Margie was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Steve Weldon Hayes; siblings, Katherine Parker, Helen Richard, and Donald Helms. Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on March 7, 2018, at the Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112, officiated by Pastor Ed Butler and Dr. Perry Comer. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30PM until 1:45PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Mrs. Hayes is survived by three daughters, Linda Taylor, and husband Donnie; Susan Thomas, and husband Victor, and granddaughter Maggie Thomas, all of Monroe, and Cathy Hayes Godwin; and husband Sandy, of Decatur GA. Grandson Dewayne Taylor, and his wife Karen and two great-grandsons Jacob and Jonathan Taylor of Raleigh, NC. Brother Johnny Helms, and wife Vivian, of Gastonia; two sisters Delane Price, of Monroe and, Joyce Moore, husband Bill of Wilmington; sisters-in-law Wilba Helms and Eleanor B. Hayes. Margie was proud of her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved dearly. She will be remembered by family and friends of her wonderful and giving spirit to those in need. Margie had many friends that she loved and had a special caregiver Louise Price who not only took care of her but provided friendship to her. The family is grateful for these special relationships. He was 90. Mr. Bley was born in Cabool, Mo., and moved to Williston from Jacksonville 19 years ago. He was a retired pilot and received his first pilot's license at the age of 22 in 1936. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a lieutenant colonel after 22 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and while serving as a combat pilot in Korea, he was shot down in 1952 and became a POW. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He served as a pilot for North Carolina, transporting the governor for three terms. He was a pilot for the former Seaboard Coastline, now CSX, for 15 years. He was a member of the Williston Highlands Golf and Country Club. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margaret H. Bley of Williston; sons Richard H. Bley of Wilkesboro, N.C., William H. She was a native of Union County, wife of the late James Er-skine "Pappy" Parker Sr., daughter of the late Lawrence Lee and Willie Mae Craig Helms, member of Hills Chapel United Methodist Church, Lowesville, a homemaker. SURVIVORS: Son and daughter-in-law, James E.
