Description	:	MARGIE M. PIETIG Mass of the Christian burial for Margie M. Pietig of Carroll will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. Mrs. Pietig, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 18, at Centers for Long Term Care in Carroll. The Revs. Father Sunny Dominic and Father Sibby Punnose will concelebrate the Mass. Lector will be Louis Tigges. Gift bearers will be Shawn and Ryan Mitchell. Eucharistic ministers will be Dawn and Marcus Cavanaugh. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 a.m. Casket bearers will be Rex Mitchell, Ted Schirck Jr., Tim Schirck, Marcus Cavanaugh, Chad Mitchell and Mitch Bengford. A daughter of William and Marie (Brune) Heires, she was born Oct. 16, 1924, at Breda, spent her younger years and graduated from St. Bernard High School there then attended a business college in Omaha, Neb., for two years. She and Delbert Schirck were married Nov. 27, 1943, at Algona. They farmed east of Carroll and also raised ponies. Mr. Schirck died in January 1957. She and Edward Pietig were married March 30, 1959, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Carroll. They made their home on the farm east of Carroll. In her early years, Mrs. Pietig was a sales representative for Stanley Home Products and was her district's top salesperson. In the early 1960s she opened the Put 'n* Take Shop in Carroll, which was the first consignment clothing store in western Iowa. In 1971 she purchased The Vogue, a women's ready-to-wear store in Carroll, and operated the business until fire destroyed the building in 1984. She then retired. The Pietigs spent the last 44 summers at their lake home at Cass Lake, Minn. Mrs. Pietig was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and Ladies Guild, and she enjoyed oil painting, fishing, playing cards and playing with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Edward Pietig, of Carroll; five children and their spouses: Terri and Jim Mitchell of Omaha, Ted and Kate Schirck of Milaca, Minn., Dawn and Mike Cavanaugh of Ankeny, Jill Pietig-Hutchings and Michael Hutchings of Burlington, Vt., and Jay and Laura Pietig of Lee's Summit, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Bengford, and her husband, Donald, of Odebolt; and two sisters-in-law: Ann Heires of Carroll and Agnes Heires of Arcadia. Mrs. Pietig was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and two brothers: Herman and Irvin Heires.
