Charles Coe The Berg family, consisting of Robert, his wife Lena, and their two oldest daughters Ruby and Jennette, immigrated to Suffield, Alberta May 25 1910 along with the Coe family consisting of Edgar, his wife Margueria, and their five oldest children: Lawrence, Earl, Ione, Clyde, and Leon. Margueria and Lena were step sisters. Obituary Champion Community Hall was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends Friday afternoon when funeral rites were held for Mrs. Edgar Allan (Kristina Marguerite) Coe of Champion, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, in the Carmangay hospital, following a lengthy illness. She was in her 83rd year. Rev. Peter Dawson, who officiated, spoke words of comfort to those bereaved. The profusion of floral offerings were a tribute to the esteem held for the deceased and family. The United Church choir was in charge of the music. Mrs. George Hummel sang a solo, "God Understands."Other favorite hymns rendered were "Breathe On Me Breath of God" and "Forever With The Lord." Mrs. Coe was born at Stockholm, Sweden, May 19, 1871, and came with her parents, at the age of eight, to Minnesota. She married Mr. Coe, Jan. 30, 1901, at St. Croix Falls, WI. They moved to Suffield in the spring of 1910 and took up a homestead. They came to the Champion district in 1925 and continued farming operations until retirement in 1945 when they purchased a house in town, where they have resided up to the present. Mrs. Coe was reared in the Lutheran faith but was a regular attendant of the Champion United Church and was an active member of the Women's Association until failing health curtailed her activities. Loved by all, who were privileged to know her, for her kindly gracious manner, she was affectionately known as "Grandma Coe." Besides her devoted husband, she is survived by four sons: Lawrence and Earl of Seattle, WA; Leon of Vulcan, Clyde of Champion; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Iona) Harris and Mrs. James (Dorothy) Buchan of Champion; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One brother, Fred Alm of Seattle, five sisters: Mrs. Robert Berg of Suffield, Alberta, Mrs. Anton Peterson of Tacoma, Mrs. Charles Jacobson of Stillwater, MN, Mrs. Martin Swenson and Mrs. August Peterson of Taylor's Falls, MN, also survive. Pallbearers were: Guy Voisey, Clayton Sletto, Ray Warren, Ed Beingessner, Arthur Nelson and Albert Orcutt. Burial was in the family plot in the Champion cemetery. Snodgrass funeral directors of High River were in charge of arrangements.
