Marguerite was born of Ephraim and Alphoinsine Belanger in Gorham on Oct. 13, 1924. She graduated from Gorham High School in 1924, and married George Bernier of Westbrook in 1946. Read More	Marguerite Bernier FALMOUTH -- Our angel on earth joined the angels in heaven on March 10, 2010, after passing away at Sedgewood Commons. Marguerite was born of Ephraim and Alphoinsine Belanger in Gorham on Oct. 13, 1924. She graduated from Gorham High School in 1924, and married George Bernier of Westbrook in 1946. Besides being a wonderful, loving wife for 52 years and mother of four children, she enjoyed gardening, reading, walking and spending time with her grandsons when they were children. She always found ways to help others and was honored as Volunteer of the Year for both the ME Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, as well as by Springbrook Nursing Home. Marguerite sang in the St. Hyacinth's choir for many years and was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne. She was involved with the Westbrook Sr. Citizens as their secretary for a number of years. Marguerite worked for Sebago, Inc. for 40 years, starting as a typist and retiring as their Manager of Foreign Accounts in 1988. She traveled to France to attend international trade shows several times for Sebago and visited England and Scotland while there. Her love of travel took her to San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, D.C., Quebec, Montreal, Florida and Virginia. Not wanting to be inactive as a retiree, Marguerite obtained her driver's license for the first time at 63 years young. Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, George, in 1999; and leaves her sons, Richard and his wife Frances of Standardsville, Va., Dennis of Apollo Beach, Fla., and John of Panama City Beach, Fla. She also leaves a daughter, Evelyn Carson and her husband Jeff of Gray; her two grandsons, James and Ryan; and five great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Church. Interment will follow in St. Hyacinth Cemetery. The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Millay Unit at Sedgewood Commons and particularly Jessica of Hospice for their outstanding care and love shown to Marguerite over the last two plus years. Although Mother wanted to pass away in her home, we feel Sedgewood Commons was definitely the next best thing. Memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
