Description	:	Mrs. John Weers died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wilke Husmann, in Scotch Grove township, last Monday evening, January 22nd, at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 15 days, following an illness of three days' duration. She was taken ill with a bad cold last Friday, which developed into pneumonia. Maria Amalie Weers was a daughter of Albert D. and Margarethe (Janssen) Weers. she was born at Langeweert, Oldenburg, Germany, October 7, 1840. She was baptized soon after birth, and was confirmed in the Lutheran church, in 1855, at Fedderwarden, Germany. She was married to John Weers at Accum, Germany, June 23, 1861. There were seven children born to this union. All survive their mother, with the exception of John, who died in 1897, at the age of 18 years. The surviving children are Henry Weers of Louisburg, Kansas, Mrs. John Oltmanns of Anamosa, Mrs. Wilke Husmann of Scotch Grove township, Mrs. Tom Schoon of Amber, Albert Weers of Cass township and Mrs. Henry Harms of Amber, Mrs. Weers is also survived by 41 grandchildren. The Weers family removed to the United States In 1885. The home was made in Cass township and then for six years in Castle Grove township, after which they removed In 1901, to Wayne township. Mr. Weers died, April 24, 1914, at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 4 days. Since the death of Mr. Weers, Mrs. Weers had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Wilke Husmann, in Scotch Grove township, where she received the tender care of a loving daughter and her husband. The funeral services were held today, at 11 o'clock, at the Wilke Husmann home, where a short prayer was offered by Rev. J. Willms, the pastor of the deceased. Final services were held at Wayne Zion Lutheran church in Wayne township. Interment was made at the Wayne Center cemetery.
