Maria Kathrina, daughter of Matthias Frahm and his wife, Anna nee Krueger, was born March 24, 1863 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She was baptized in the name of the Triune God April 5, 1863. Read More	A useful life came to a close at Staplehurst on February 3, when God sent his messenger to convey the soul of Grandmother Ehlers to her heavenly mansion. Maria Kathrina, daughter of Matthias Frahm and his wife, Anna nee Krueger, was born March 24, 1863 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She was baptized in the name of the Triune God April 5, 1863. In 1873 she came with her parents to America and lived at Nebraska City for three years, then they moved to Seward County. On March 25, 1881, she was united in marriage to Christian Ehlers by pastor Haessler. This union was blessed with nine children, one daughter Mrs. Laura (Clem) Peacock passed away February 5, 1917, leaving her husband and three children, Leona, Glenn, and Don. Mr. Ehlers died November 18, 1928. Mother Ehlers was a devoted wife and mother, her thoughts were always for the comfort and welfare of her family for whom she gave heart's best love and loving service. As a friend and neighbor she was always ready to extend a helping hand. She was confirmed December 11, 1938 by pastor Heideman and joined our Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran congregation. Her communion record shows that she frequently partook of the Lord's Supper. She always enjoyed good health until a few weeks ago when she suffered a stroke. She peacefully and quietly passed into her eternal rest at 79 years, 10 months and 10 days. Those left to mourn her death are six sons: Chris of Utica, John of Staplehurst, Herbert, Waterman, Ill., William, York, August of Utica, Fred of Waco; two daughters, Meta Meyer, Staplehurst and Edna Tonniges, Seward; one stepson, George, Solon Springs, Wis; two stepdaughters, Clara Mueller, Gresham and Emma Nicolaus, Staplehurst. two foster sons, Glenn and Don Peacock, both with the armed forces; one foster daughter, Lena nee Peacock Dickey, Utica; one sister, Mrs. Herman Graben, Seward; 42 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday from the Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. W. Ernstmeyer officiating. with the assistance of the choir. Many beautiful floral offerings were in evidence and the church was packed to capacity with friends of the departed. Burial was in the Staplehurst cemetery beside her husband, the pallbearers being her sons. Blue Valley Blade, Seward, NE, Thurs, February 11, 1943
