Description	:	Maria Elise Schmieding Christjaener, nee Albers, was born April 15, 1871, in Osnabrueck, Hanover, Germany, where she was also baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In 1888 she emigrated to America, coming with friends. Her first home was in the Malcolm neighborhood. October 12th of that same year she entered into holy wedlock with August Schmieding of Malcolm with whom she lived in happy marriage until his death in the summer of 1904. October 12th of that same year she entered into holy wedlock with August Schmieding of Malcolm with whom she lived in happy marriage until his death in the summer of 1904. Seven children were born to them, three of whom preceded her in death, namely Rudolph in 1938, Arthur in 1923, and Mathilda in 1927. In 1913 she married again, namely Fred Christjaener of Malcolm. No children were born to this union. In 1915 she moved to Seward with her husband where she has since made her home until sickness during the last years caused her to live with her children. Mr. Christjaener died September 20, 1925. For some time, Mrs. Christjaener suffered from high blood pressure and from diabetes. Last week Tuesday, October 27, between 6 and 7 p.m., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Hegeholz northwest of Staplehurst, she suddenly departed this life at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 12 days. She is survived by her four children: Louis Schmieding of Gresham, Herman Schmieding of Beatrice, Regina Schmieding of Lincoln, and Mrs. Anna Hegeholz of Staplehurst; by three daughters-in-law, Mrs. Rudolph Schmieding, Mrs. Louis Schmieding, and Mrs. Herman Schmieding; by one son-in-law, Mr. Henry Hegeholz; by 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There are seven stepchildren: Henry Christjaener of Malcolm; Mrs. Lizzie Jung of Garland; William and Fred Christjaener of Minnesota; Mrs. Lena Beckmann of Malcolm; Eric and Carl Christjaener of California. Saturday afternoon, October 31, funeral services for Mrs. Christjaener were held in St. John's Lutheran Church in Seward, the Rev. I. C. Heinicke officiating.
