COUNTRYMAN Maria Emma McCue was born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, June 7th, 1853, and with her parents moved to Jones county, Iowa, in 1867. On June 6th, 1876, she was united in marriage with Orlando E. Countryman. To this union were born six, children (all boys) of whom four survive; two dying when young. Of the four surviving, Jasper, Fred,and Earl live in Canova, South Dakota, and Bert lives in Trego, Wisconsin. Mrs. Countryman lived with her husband and family in Jones county, Iowa, until February, 1900, when they moved to Canova, South Dakota. Here they lived until two years ago, when they moved to Trego, Wisconsin, to make their home with their son Bert and family, and where Mrs. Countryman was tenderly cared for until the time of her death. Mrs. Countryman united with the M. E. church and was a member of the Methodist church and its societies until her death. She was also a member of the Rebekah Degree of Odd Fellowship. Mrs. Countryman had been a constant sufferer for the past twenty years, and for the last two years had been an invalid and confined to her bed entirely. In spite of her long years of suffering, she was always pleasant and patient, and never complained at the hardness of her lot. She died on Friday, December 18, 1925, aged 72, years, 6 months and 11 days, leaving to mourn her loss a husband, four sons, four sisters, eight grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends. Brief services were held from the N.A. Countryman home Wednesday afternoon, December 23d, conducted by Rev. Joseph Yates, pastor of the Wyoming Methodist church. Two hymns were sung by Miss Louise Grindrod and Miss Hazel James, with Mrs. F. L, Pealer at the organ. The casket bearers were six nephews: Dell Countryman, Orlando Countryman L. F. Countryman, Howard Countryman, Chas. Rogers, and Maynard Peck. The body was laid to rest on the family lot in the Wyoming cemetery beside her two sons who preceded her in death.
