Description	:	PASSEY MARIA EMMA PASSEY (nee SIMON) July, 1934 - May 10, 2013 It is with sadness we announce MARIA EMMA PASSEY passed away peacefully at the age of 78 in Raymond, Alberta on May 10, 2013 after losing her struggle with cancer. Maria was born on July 18, 1934 in Kongen, Germany, the eldest of six children. As a young woman and mother she bravely immigrated to Canada in 1954 where she made her home in Magrath, Alberta. Read More	PASSEY MARIA EMMA PASSEY (nee SIMON) July, 1934 - May 10, 2013 It is with sadness we announce MARIA EMMA PASSEY passed away peacefully at the age of 78 in Raymond, Alberta on May 10, 2013 after losing her struggle with cancer. Maria was born on July 18, 1934 in Kongen, Germany, the eldest of six children. As a young woman and mother she bravely immigrated to Canada in 1954 where she made her home in Magrath, Alberta. She worked for many years at the Magrath Woolen Mill, Magrath Hospital and later Tanco Building all the while raising her family. In later years, alongside her husband, they ran the Covered Wagon RV Park/Bed and Breakfast for 21 years. Maria enjoyed family reunions and welcoming weary travelers. She was an avid crafter producing many beautiful works. Maria is survived by her loving husband, Mark, of 45 years, her sister Trudy (Arno) Stach of Terrace, B.C. and Anneliese (Adolf) Knell of Germany, daughters Addie (Don) Sorkilmo of Long View, AB, Heidi (Frank) Swan of Drayton Valley, AB, Joanne (Bruce) Chatterton of Calgary, AB, sons Kevin (Dianne) Passey of Charlie Lake, BC, Quint (Rose) Passey of New Serepta, AB, Derrick (Beck) Passey of Raymond, AB; 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Also many dear cousins and relatives here and in Germany. Maria was predeceased by her loving daughter, Jayne (Luke) Ouellette, her parents Emma and Herman, her brothers, Walter and Guenter and sister, Lori. Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Magrath Stake Center, Magrath, AB on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Craig Palmer officiating. Interment in the Magrath Cemetery, Magrath AB. Arrangements by LEGACY FUNERAL HOME, Cardston, AB. Printed in THE LETHBRIDGE HERALD, Lethbridge, AB.
