Description	:	Muscatine Journal March 22, 1910 West Liberty, Iowa, March 22 - Mrs. Maria Mead passed away at her home on West Fifth street Saturday afternoon, at the age of 92 years and 7 days. She had been confined to her bed for nearly seven months, old age being the cause of her death. Mrs. Mead was born March 12, 1818 in Lamp's Mills, Belmont county, Ohio, her maiden name being Maria Lamp. She was there married in 1837 to Philo Mead, who died twenty five years ago. Mrs. Mead was born March 12, 1818 in Lamp's Mills, Belmont county, Ohio, her maiden name being Maria Lamp. She was there married in 1837 to Philo Mead, who died twenty five years ago. Eight children were born to the couple, of whom seven survive; Alonzo Mead of Clayton, Mo; Joshua Mead, of Blue Springs, Nebr.; Mrs. Reese Pickering, of Genesee, Idaho; J.C. Pickering of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; John Mead, Mrs. Maurice Whitacre and E.E. Mead of West Liberty. John has been with his mother the past eight years. Mr. and Mrs. Mead moved with their family to Iowa in 1867, and resided on a farm four miles north of West Liberty. She had been a resident of West Liberty twenty-eight years. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home, with interment at Oakridge cemetery.
