Description	:	LONG ILLNESS ENDS IN DEATH After an illness of 9 1/2 years, Mrs. Mary Mangelsdorf, 76, widow of August Mangelsdorf, died in Homewood, the family residence, at 6:45 o'clock this morning. In January, 1934, she suffered a stroke and had been an invalid since. During the long illness Mrs. Mangelsdorf was most patient and courageous. Funeral services will be held at Homewood, Eighth and Q streets, at 3 p.m. Saturday. Grandsons will act as pallbearers. Interment will be in Mr.Vernon cemetery. Sawin and Douglas is in charge. LIVED IN LAWRENCE The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Brune, Mary Louise Brune was born in Franklin county, Mo. on March 25, 1867. Later her parents and their children moved to Lawrence, Kas., where she was educated and where she grew to womanhood. Her marriage to Ernst August Mangelsdorf of Atchison, Kansas, occurred in Lawrence, Kansas on September 8, 1892. She assumed the role of mother to the eight of nine surviving children made motherless by the death in 1890 of Mr. Mangelsdorf's first wife, Charlotte Brune Mangelsdorf, who was her sister. Those eight children survive. They are A.F. Mangelsdorf, 1001 Santa Fe; F.W. Mangelsdorf, Shenandoah, Ia.; Ernest Mangelsdorf, Massasoit, Hall; Mrs. Charlotte Neve, Springfield, O.; F.H. Mangelsdorf, Burlingame, Calif.; Mrs. Bertha Luntey, Buhl, Ida.; Mrs. Marie Schmeling, Homewood; and Mrs. Carol Collins, Ft. Worth, Tex. HAD EIGHT CHILDREN Mrs. Mangelsdorf was the mother of eight children, seven of whom survive: Dr. A.J. Mangelsdorf, Honolulu, Hawaii; Dr. P.C. Mangelsdorf, Newtonville, Mass.; Mrs. Louise Stauffer, Maryville, Mo.; T.A. Mangelsdorf, Lockport, Ill.; Mrs. Dorothy Paulsen, Elizabeth, N.J.; H.G. Mangelsddorf, Baton Rouge, La.; and Mrs. Helen Porter, Winnetka, Ill. Carl Mangelsdorf died at the age of two in 1898. Mrs. Mangelsdorf ruled with dignity and justice over this large group of children and their devotion and loyalty have endured throught the years. She was greatly beloved by her family. Also surviving are a brother, Frank Brune, Petaluma, Calif; 35 grandchilden; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs Mangelsdorf died January 16, 1933.
