Description	:	Maria Brown, nee Maring, was born September 8, 1828, at Belmont Ohio, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Schaffer's, in Russell county, Kansas, October 26, 1917, aged 89 years, 1 month and 3 days. Grandma Brown grew to womanhood in her native state, and was married to Abel Brown. This union was blessed with six children, three sons and three daughters. Read More	Maria Brown, nee Maring, was born September 8, 1828, at Belmont Ohio, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Schaffer's, in Russell county, Kansas, October 26, 1917, aged 89 years, 1 month and 3 days. Grandma Brown grew to womanhood in her native state, and was married to Abel Brown. This union was blessed with six children, three sons and three daughters. Two daughters, one son, and the husband who died in 1881, proceeded Mrs. Brown in death. Early in life she gave her heart and life to her savior and united with the Christian church and remained true to her Christ and the church until death. In 1885 she left Ohio and came to Kansas with four of her children and made her home during most of her stay here at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Schaffer, north of Lucas. Grandma Brown was a true and devoted Christian and her life was a ray of sunshine where ever she went. Truly the influence of her life will live on. She leaves to mourn her death, one daughter, Mrs. George Schaffer, two sons, Clark and Arloph Brown, sixteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. The funeral services were held Sunday October 28th at the Delhi church, in charge of F.W. Wendland, pastor of the Evangelical church at Lucas. Interment was made in the Delhi cemetery.
