Read More	Last Respects to Departed Clinton County Woman Paid Sunday Morning in Low Moor Funeral services for the late Mrs. Maria Tate Dawson, the aged woman who died last Thursday at Low Moor, were held at 10:30 o'clock yesterday morning at the M.E. church in Low Moor. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery in Camanche. The following obituary notice was prepared by friends. Mrs. Marie Tate Dawson, aged 95 years, passed away Thursday afternoon at 3:30 at her home in Low Moor. Mrs. Dawson's maiden name was Marie Tate and she was born in Harbrough, Lincolnshire, England, September 14, 1814, being the eldest of a family of six children. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Thomas Dawson, also a native of Harborugh, in the Church of England at Harbrough, Rev. Byron performing the ceremony. The young couple were residents of Harbrough a number of years, Mr. Dawson being a carpenter by trade. Being desirous of change location, April 5, 1853, Mr. Dawson with his family and also Mrs. Dawson's parents Mr. and Mrs. Tate, left their native land, and emigrated to America, They took passage on a sailing ship (the Fergus) which took seven weeks to cross the Atlantic and landed at Quebec. In a few years they left Canada, going to Chicago by the way of the great lakes, then to Iowa , where Mr. Dawson operated different farms in Clinton county, until October 13, 1887, when he moved to Low Moor and retired. On June 1, 1891, death entered the home and robbed Mrs. Dawson of her companion, with who she had traveled life's pathway for half a century, their fiftieth wedding anniversary being their last spent together on earth. Sixteen years ago Mrs. Dawson suffered a stroke of paralysis, leaving her partially helpless and since that time seldom left her home. Two weeks ago she was again afflicted with paralysis, suffering several light strokes until the Friday before her death, when she suffered one from which she never recovered. She was the mother of seven daughters and lived to see three of them pass to the Great Beyond. Those living are Mrs. W.L. Cousins of Clinton, Mrs. M. Bartlett of Odebold, Iowa, Mrs. J.W. Southwell of Ortonville, Minnesota, and Mrs. Hattie Barker of Low Moor, with whom Mrs., Dawson made her home, all of whom were with her during her last illness.
