Read More	SOURCE: THE MONTICELLO EXPRESS, MONTIELLO, IOWA, APRIL 3, 1930, PAGE 1 YOUNG WIFE CALLED BY DEATH LAST SUNDAY Mrs. Mary Poppe, the wife of William Poppe of Langworthy, died last Sunday night, at the age of 35 years. She had been ailing for more than a year. Mrs. Poppe, whose maiden name was Mary Schaffer, was born in Wayne township , April 5, 1895. She was married in Castle Grove township to William Poppe, December 12, 1917. Mrs. Poppe became ill over a year ago, with a severe case Of influenza, which left her an invalid. She spent five weeks at the John McDonald hospital last fall, with the hope of improving her health. At times she rallied, but became fatally ill March 20, and died the following Sunday. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon, commencing at 1 o'clock at the home, thence to Zion's church, where the funeral discource was delivered by Rev. Willms, her pastor. There was a large gathering of friends to pay their respects to the memory of one who merited the high regard and esteem in which she was always held. She is survived by her husband, Will Poppe; two brothers; Harm Schalfer and John Fehners; five sisters; Mrs. Fannie Siebels, Mrs. Dena Ortgies, Mrs. Etta Rieken, Mrs. Lena Behnken and Mrs. Gesine Eiben.
