Curtis Mrs. Charles Curtis, of near Lyons, 63 years old, who underwent a severe operation at a hospital in Lincoln Monday of last week, died there Sunday afternoon after much suffering. Mrs. Mae Agnes Curtis was born at St. Petersburg, Mich., Jan. 29, 1871 [sic]. She united with the Divide Center Presbyterian church in early girlhood, and was a member of this church a the time of her death. She is survived by her husband, one brother, Elmer Herendeen of Mt. Vernon, S.D., two daughters, Mrs. Lew Willey of Sioux City, Ia., and Mrs. C.M. Stuart of Lincoln, also one granddaughter and many friends. Mrs. Curtis possessed a deep and sincere faith in the spiritual verities and loved her Bible. She was truly a faithful wife, loving and dutiful mother, and a good neighbor. Funeral services were conducted from the home Tuesday afternoon and from the Lyons Presbyterian church, Rev. L.A. Thompson, the pastor, officiating, Mrs. C.H. Walton and Mrs. E.E. Stiles sang three beautiful numbers, with Miss Mildred Heintzelman at the organ. Interment took place in the Lyons cemetery. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Herendeen of Mt. Vernon, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Lew Willey and daughter Genevieve of Sioux City, Ia., and Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Stuart of Lincoln.
