She was the daughter of the late Harry Otho and Ethel Flanders Burson. She attended Rutland schools in Meigs County and graduated from Athens High School, class of 1938. Read More	Marian Burson Guess of Athens passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains. Marian was born in Jerseyville (Shade) on July 6, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Harry Otho and Ethel Flanders Burson. She attended Rutland schools in Meigs County and graduated from Athens High School, class of 1938. On July 3, 1939 she enrolled in Marietta Business Institute, from which she later graduated. Marian was a member of First Baptist Church, Athens. She was a former employee of Stedman Packing Co., C.D. Shafer Co., office of the late Dr. T.R. Biddle, and the Athens Messenger. Marian is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Robert) and Patricia; two grandsons, Chris and Shawn (Cyndi); and four great grandchildren- Trendal, Hannah, Conner, and Macy Grace. She is also survived by her brother Darrell and brother-in-law Charles Amos; nephews Rudy and Brian; and nieces Cheryl and Karen. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Delbert in 1992; a son-in-law Joe, and a sister, Phyllis Amos. Graveside service will be conducted Thursday 11:30am at Burson Cemetery, Shade with Buford Brown officiating. Friends may call Thursday 10-11am at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hickory Creek Nursing Center, Activities Department, c/o Ashlye Clark, 51 E. Fourth St., The Plains, Ohio 45780. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hickory Creek for the excellent care given to Marian over the past ten years.
