Marian Pearson Getting Rubinson, 82, formerly of Sioux Falls, S.D., Yankton, S.D., and Sanborn, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Temple Beth-El, 4900 Briarhaven Road. Rabbi Sidney Zimmelman and the Rev. Michael Waschevski will officiate. Following committal prayers, Marian will be laid to rest in Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park. Honorary bearers will be Steven Houg, Elliot May and Nathan May. Marian was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Dr. T.A. and Margaret Pearson. She was raised in Perry, Iowa. After attending Iowa State University, she married Daryle Getting on June 8, 1947. Living and farming in Sanborn, Iowa, with a short ranching stint in Montana, she moved to Yankton, S.D., and later Sioux Falls, S.D. During her years in South Dakota, she participated in many volunteer activities including a docent for the South Dakota Symphony and professional organizations, including being president of the South Dakota Dietetic Association. On Sept. 7, 1990, she married Seyman Rubinson and moved to Fort Worth. She became active in the Presbyterian Women of First Presbyterian Church, Fort Worth, enjoyed Creative Writing Workshop as part of the Forth Worth Federation of Woman's Club, a docent of Bass Hall assisting with children's tours and delivering for Meals on Wheels. Her sense of humor and love of friends will be sorely missed by her family and numerous friends she had in Fort Worth, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Perry, Iowa. Survivors: Two great families including her husband, Seyman Rubinson; her children, Mary McFarland (Douglas) of Arden Hills, Minn., Roy Getting (Holly) of Irving, Ray Getting (Barb) of Des Moines, Richard Getting of Sioux Falls, Melanie Houg (Craig) of Sioux Falls and Maureen May (Jonathon) of Winter Park, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and the Rubinson children, Irving (Patti) of Coppell, Martin (Denae), David (Deborah) and Ellen, all of Fort Worth, and their five grandchildren and one great-grandchild whom she loved as if they were her own.
