The family suggests memorials to the Pilger Library, the Stanton County Historical Society or Pilger Fire and Rescue. ——— Marian Jeanne Marlatt was born on Aug. 20, 1931, at Spencer to Delbert and Elizabeth (Hiatt) Marlatt. The family moved to Bristow, where she attended elementary school from first through part of the sixth grade. Marian and her parents moved to Lynch, and she completed the sixth grade through eleventh grade. In 1947, the family moved to Pilger, and Marian graduated from Pilger High School in 1948. She began teaching at Wayne County rural School District 35 for one year. Marian taught at Stanton County rural School Districts 47 and 19 the next three years. On March 17, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lige Klima Jr. at the United Methodist Church in Stanton. Marian moved to Newport News, W.Va., in 1952, where Lige was stationed, and later to Huntington, W.V., and was employed as a seamstress in a manufacturing plant. Upon returning to Pilger in 1953, she returned to teaching. She taught at Stanton County Districts 25, 18, 43, 14 each for one year and Cuming County 40 for five years before teaching at Beemer Elementary for five years. In 1968, Marian obtained her bachelor's degree from Wayne State College and her master's in education degree from there in 1975. She taught at Pilger Elementary for 25 years from 1970 until 1995, when she retired. Lige passed away on Sept. 6, 1999. Marian enjoyed genealogy, traveling and following all of her grandchildren's activities. Survivors include daughter Diane and husband Jeff Breitkreutz of Burwell, son Danny Klima of Omaha, grandson Scott Breitkreutz of Grand Island, grandson Matt Breitkreutz of Omaha, grandson Patrick and wife Jenna Breitkreutz of Kearney and daughter Josie, brother Roger and wife Anna Marlatt of Houston, Texas, sister-in-law Dorothy Marlatt of Nashville, Tenn. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Donald Marlatt.
