Services were held Friday at the Lone Tree United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Albert Best officiating. Rebekah Lodge services were held Thursday evening at Sorden's Chapel. She was born Nov. 9, 1910, in Wapello, to Sam and Alice Hickman Barcus. She married Douglas Abrams Nov. 17, 1927 in Iowa City. He died Apr. 26, 1966 and she married John Smid June 30, 1967. A housewife, she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary and United Presbyterian Church, all in Lone Tree. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. John (Laverne) Dvorak of Lone Tree and Mrs. Gary (Shirley) Smothers of Iowa City; two sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Rose) Lennabaugh of Lone Tree and Mrs. Lilburn (Fern) Green of Peru, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband and one daughter, Diane. Pallbearers were Jim Larew, Ferrell Moody, Glen Rummells, Howard Stock, Maynard Sexton and Charles Werbach, all members of the Lone Tree John L. Mumm Post 457 of the American Legion.
