She was born July 9, 1922, in Ottumwa to Leo E. and Icel Wilson O’Neil. She married John L. Deiters on November 21, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1991. Deiters on November 21, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1991. Marian was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and had been a resident of Ottumwa all of her life. She had worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society and St. Patrick’s Quilters. Marian was an avid quilter. Surviving are a daughter, Maryan (Wayne) Huit of Ottumwa; two sons, John (Maribeth) Deiters and Tim Deiters, both of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a stepsister, Wilma Jean Taylor of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Avon O’Neil; and her brother, Robert O’Neil. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa, and a special thanks to The Good Samaritan Ottumwa Hospice. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
