Description	:	Marian Ruth Minnis, 95, of Morning Sun died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born Feb. 5, 1917, in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of L. Ray and Grace Kopp Wilson. On Aug. 27, 1939, she married John W. Minnis in Morning Sun. He died Jan. 2, 1990. Mrs. Minnis was a homemaker. She helped her father at Wilson's Hardware and was the first woman in Louisa County to get a chauffeur's license. She graduated from Yarmouth High School. Read More	Marian Ruth Minnis, 95, of Morning Sun died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born Feb. 5, 1917, in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of L. Ray and Grace Kopp Wilson. On Aug. 27, 1939, she married John W. Minnis in Morning Sun. He died Jan. 2, 1990. Mrs. Minnis was a homemaker. She helped her father at Wilson's Hardware and was the first woman in Louisa County to get a chauffeur's license. She graduated from Yarmouth High School. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Morning Sun, where she taught Sunday school and served on several committees. She was active in United Methodist Women and was an original member of Gospelaires. She served as a Cub Scout den mother and was a member of Louisa County election board. She was a member of Indian Hills Golf and Country Club and TT Bridge Club in Morning Sun. She enjoyed needlepoint and cross-stitch and made quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed travelling with her husband during retirement including to the Holy Land, Australia, the Panama Canal and to Ireland to research his heritage, and an Alaskan Cruise and Mississippi River cruises. She enjoyed cooking family dinners, her family and sharing her foods and talents with friends and neighbors. Survivors include one daughter, Vicki Fisher of Wapello; two sons, Billy Minnis of Morning Sun and Craig Minnis of Bend, Ore.; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and one brother, Charles Wilson of Burlington. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.
