Description	:	Marie Alice Peters, 91, of Denver, died on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the Denver Sunset Home in Denver. Marie was born August 5, 1919, in Riverton Township, Chickasaw County, the daughter of Arthur and Ella (Shannon) Boerschel. She married Wendel A. Peters on November 15, 1942, at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua, Iowa. Wendel passed away in September of 1959. Read More	Marie Alice Peters, 91, of Denver, died on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the Denver Sunset Home in Denver. Marie was born August 5, 1919, in Riverton Township, Chickasaw County, the daughter of Arthur and Ella (Shannon) Boerschel. She married Wendel A. Peters on November 15, 1942, at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua, Iowa. Wendel passed away in September of 1959. Marie went to country school in Riverton Township, Chickasaw County, through 8th grade. After school she worked doing housework for area people. She was confirmed and baptized April 14, 1935, at St. John's Evangelical Church, Fremont Township, Butler County. Over the years Marie worked at the Waterloo Airport Restaurant, Glenn's Café on Highway 63, Kurtt's Grocery Store and in 1967 she started as a cook at the Denver Sunset Nursing Home, retiring in 1987. Marie was very active in her church, St. John's Lutheran, Maxfield. She loved playing cards and her biggest hobby was embroidering quilt tops of which she made for all of her grandchildren and baby quilts for her great-grandchildren. Also, when she had the chance, she loved to fish. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Marie or Grandma P, as she was often called, was known for her apple pies. She is survived by her children: Charlene (Lyle) Schneider of Denver, Iowa, Barbara (Darold) Meyer of Whitewright, Texas, Phyllis (Robert) Seamans of Sumner, Iowa, Steve Peters of Waterloo, Iowa, and Dennis (LuAnn) Peters of Denver, Iowa. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wendel, one son, Stanley, two great grandsons, her parents, three sisters and two brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church-Maxfield with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday in Denver and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice, Waverly, Denver Sunset Home or to St. John's Lutheran Church-Maxfield
