Description	:	Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Filip, who passed away Friday, were held Monday afternoon at the Pishelville hall. In charge of the rites were Joseph Broz, who spoke in Czech and W.J. Svoboda, who spoke in English. Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery at Pischelville. After being in ailing health for two years, Mrs. Filip passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Minarik. The past two weeks she had been bedfast. The final summons was answered at 3:30 Friday afternoon. Mrs. Filip was past 80 years of age. Marie Angel was born in Sedempany, Czechoslovakia, September 7, 1865 to John and Teresia Angel. Here she grew to womanhood and in 1888 was married to Vaclav Filip The next year the young couple came to America to seek a home to better their life. They first settled in Dodge county, Nebraska, remaining for five years. Coming to Knox county, the Filips settled on their own farm south of Verdel in the Pishelville community. To this union were born two children, Frank and Mary. On February 3, 1931, her husband and partner in life, passed on. She retired from active work. When in November 1944, she became physically unable to perform her work, Mrs. Filip went to live at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James E. Minarik. Surviving and left to mourn her passing are her son, Frank of Verdel and daughter, Mrs. Minarik of Verdel; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Filip was an active member for over 36 years of Sladkovsky Lodge #8 of the Western Bohemian Fraternal Association.
