Avery, 67, a former Dows and Belmond resident died on Wednesday evening (Dec 19, 1973) at the Iowa Soldiers Home Hospital in Marshalltown where she had been a resident for the past six years. Funeral services were held from the Willim Funeral Home in Dows on Saturday afternoon, December 22, 1973 at two o'clock. The Rev. David A. Avery, 67, a former Dows and Belmond resident died on Wednesday evening (Dec 19, 1973) at the Iowa Soldiers Home Hospital in Marshalltown where she had been a resident for the past six years. Funeral services were held from the Willim Funeral Home in Dows on Saturday afternoon, December 22, 1973 at two o'clock. The Rev. David A. Anderson was the officiant and the burial was in the Fairview Cemetery. She was born March 25, 1906 at Dows and was the daughter of Ernest and Jennie Suggins Wedekin. She received her education in the Dows schools. On September 18, 1935 she was married to Harry Avery. Mr. Avery was with the Rock Island Railroad and was the depot agent at Dows and Belmond. She worked for Dr. G. E. Schnug for many years in Dows. Mrs. Avery is survived by one step-son, James Avery of Waverly; one brother, Homer Wedekin of Newton and one sister, Mrs. Ione O'Neel of Amarillo, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and her husband. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Belmond.
