Description	:	Marie Cathryn Johnston, only daughter of Mary Johnston and the late Martin Johnston, was born at Massena in Cass county, Iowa on December 20, 1910. She departed this life at her home in Corning on March 9, 1962 at the age of 51 years, two months, and 19 days. Marie became a member of the Corning Christian church early in childhood. Even though she was unable to attend church she received much inspiration from reading her Bible. Read More	Marie Cathryn Johnston, only daughter of Mary Johnston and the late Martin Johnston, was born at Massena in Cass county, Iowa on December 20, 1910. She departed this life at her home in Corning on March 9, 1962 at the age of 51 years, two months, and 19 days. Marie became a member of the Corning Christian church early in childhood. Even though she was unable to attend church she received much inspiration from reading her Bible. She graduated from Corning High School in 1927 after which she attended Creston Junior College for two years and later graduated from Drake University at Des Moines in 1931. While attending Drake University, Marie wrote an essay which entitled her to a trip to Mexico. She was a member of Delta Sigma Epsolam Sorority. Following her graduation from Drake she was employed by the Equitable Life Insurance Company in Des Moines until her illness in 1933. At that time she returned to the home of her mother and brother in Corning, where she spent the rest of her days. Her father preceded her in death in 1951. She is survived by her mother, Mary Johnston; one brother, Manford; several aunts and many other relatives. She will also be missed by a host of friends. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 11 at 2 p.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning with Rev. Don Briley officiating. Music was by Mrs. Doyle Tranergur, Mrs. Bert Peckham and Mrs. Dick Cook. Pallbearers were Russell Ramsey, Phil Larson, Tom Larson, Max Ramsey, Charles Johnston, and Warren Johnston. Interment was in Victoria Center cemetery, Cass County, Iowa.
